I have read 100's of RR biographies over the years, but I think I'd put this one in my top 10. The author has a great style of writing. Really entertaining, humorous, and interesting. Never a dull page in the entire book. My favorite chapter tells how he dealt with a notorious supervisor he called "lump-lump".I think this book ought to be given out to the management of the big railroad corporations, because it gives some great examples on how NOT to run a railroad.
If you like reading about the lives of railroad workers and all they went through, this book is a must read !!!
Mr Frana, I hope you have enough stories left to write a Part 2. Or maybe consider some RR fiction. And see if you can't get a couple of those old "Chiefs" to write their own biographies................I bet they would be great.
